For some of the best golf courses, check out Devon and see the variety that awaits

As an avid golfer, this is likely one of the biggest drawing points to choosing a location to take a holiday to. You want somewhere that has lovely scenery, good accommodations, nice amenities, but most importantly golf courses, and good ones too. Renowned amongst the UK, Devon golf courses are some of the finest on offer, including the oldest course in the entire UK. For a golfers paradise, there are a large number of places in Devon that will meet all your needs, to a T.

There are three Devon golf courses that set themselves apart from the rest as being of the utmost quality, difficult courses, and the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. These courses are the Thurlestone Golf Club, the Royal North Devon Golf Club, and the Tiverton Golf Club. These are three of the most premier golf courses in the entire UK, making them natural destinations of choice for the golf lover.

Thurlestone Golf Club, running along the coast of Big Bury Bay, offers a difficult and beautiful set of holes to play. Located near high class rental cottages, this makes for the most perfect, luxurious golf getaway you can imagine. With cliff top terrain on the course, you can take a bit of a breather and take in the view. You can see for miles at the top of these cliffs and the sites are truly breathtaking to behold. With well maintained, lush greens, and one of the most challenging 18 holes of golf on offer, this makes a great choice for the seasoned golfer.

The Royal North Devon Golf Club, built in 1864 is the oldest golf course in the whole of England. Located on the Northam Boroughs the course is often referred to as "Westward Ho!". This is a unique course in that golfers, nature, and even wildlife like sheep coincide on these common grounds. Amateur competitions, have, in the past, been held at these hallowed grounds. This is a intermediate course making it great for the historian at heart or the novice golfer.

Tiverton Golf Club, located relatively close to Torquay is a 16 hole course that is both easy in spots and rather challenging in others. It is recommended for novice golfers to skip the tree lined holes as these are tough to manage and are better left to the experts. Located right near Torquay, there is no shortage of amenities and accommodations for those who wish to make this golf club the focus of their stay in Devon.

Regardless of whether you are a seasoned golfer or a novice who golfs for fun, Devon golf courses run the gamut from easy to challenging. The above stated list is, of course, not exhaustive, but it showcases three of the most popular and well known courses that Devon has to offer.
