Description
The Mayflower Guest House is a delightful family-run, four storey building built around the 1890s with a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Commended by the English Tourist Board and joint winner of the 2004 Plymouth Guest Houses in Bloom and highly commended in 2006 and 2007.
We are located close to the historic Plymouth Hoe, where Sir Francis Drake famously played bowls, and the bustling Barbican area, taking in the Mayflower Steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail in 1620. An easy five-minute stroll will lead you to the City where you will find a traffic-free shopping centre.
Plymouth is on the doorstep of the great Dartmoor National Park with its rustic appeal, the beautiful South Hams, boasting a wide range of beaches, and is just across the river from the charming County of Cornwall.
All rooms at The Mayflower Guest House have central heating, colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Most rooms have an en-suite bathroom. Full English breakfast is included and vegetarians are catered for.
Children welcome over two years old. Sorry, no pets.
Local Information
Plymouth has a wealth of local attractions, none more so than the historic Barbican area with its cobbled streets and quaint shops. There are a wide variety of restaurants, many of which serve locally caught fresh fish, most of which have been sampled by ourselves. Just ask for recommendations, we will be happy to advise.
The Mayflower Guest House is conveniently situated within easy reach of Plymouth City Centre, the Yachting Marina, National Marine Aquarium, University of Plymouth, Theatre Royal, Plymouth Pavilions and only yards from Brittany Ferries. The Railway and Coach Stations are also nearby.
Take in the spectacular views from The Hoe, of Plymouth Sound and Drake´s Island, or catch the water taxi from the Barbican to the Mountbatten peninsula, offering a scenic public house, a water sports centre and links to the South West coastal footpath.
